Well after a marathon day Saturday, the new transmission is in and it appears to be working quite well! Big thanks to my Dad, Chase and Sam for coming out and helping - that tranny was a beast.
I’ve got to get my EGR tube fixed - I broke it the rest of the way trying to remove it from the header. I was able to cap off the EGR itself and then somewhat seal the header end of the EGR. I then went into the computer and turned off the EGR functionality so the car doesn’t run like crap and throw a check engine light. I’ll probably temporarily JB weld it until I get around to bringing it to a shop where they can remove the other half of the pipe and make it look nice and pretty.
Other than that, I’ve gotta check the transmission fluid periodically to keep it topped off as air works out the system and maybe retighten my header bolts in a week or so after some heat cycles.
After the tranny breaks in and I get my EGR (correctly) fixed I’ll drop the hammer and hit the track! Stay tuned!
EDIT: I put some good ole’ JB weld on the EGR to seal it up and nix the exhaust leak it was making. Depending on how well it holds up, I’ll start doing my wide open throttle tuning soon and get the shift points and air to fuel ratio perfected… then it’s off to the 1/4 mile.
After I got the EGR squared away, I pulled a few scratches I picked up this weekend out of the clearcoat with some polishing compound and then laid down a little wax to finish it off.

woot!!! congrats on the tranny! whay type of fluid are you using…syn.?
Mercon V synthetic - expensive as crap when you gotta buy 14 quarts. ($80)
I’ll probably be changing fluid/filter every 10k miles as well. $ …
BUT - the fluid and filter change plus the HUGE cooler will (I hope) make that sucker live a LOOONG time and take lots of abuse.
man that was long and tough
but an interesting learning experience!
glad i could help
