Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you.
I got a kick out of that quote. In other car news, this weekend starts the buildup of Andy’s car. We are upgrading him from a stock 88lph pump to a 255lph to feed the next step… a Trickflow topend kit. It’ll be fun making an autotragic car fast. 12’s anyone?
I’ve still got a couple things left to do on my car before I can bring it back to the track (which reopens early February, then 10th I think). I need to add on my second 255lph pump… the supercharger is a fuel hungry beast.
After I get the fueling situated it’s time to get the wideband back on it and do some tuning. Traction below 40mph has been a serious issue with the latest engine additions and the cold weather. I am going to make the step down to 3.73 gears and step up to some 31 spline axles and differential so that I can run my ET Street slicks without breaking an axle. I’d like to see a mid 11 out of the car as-is. That’ll be a drop of roughly 8/10th of a second… I think the car has that… if I can drive it without spinning on the 1-2 and 2-3 shift. Once traction is situated I have a shiny boost pulley to tack on another 30rwhp or so.
Mach 1 EFI swap is progressing. I have decided to run Nylon 12 fuel line. Hunting down the best pricing for the line and fittings now. Also in the hunt for a 94-95 Mustang fuel rail (they flow better than the Fox piece).
